Hotel Costs in 100 U.S. Cities 2008 rates are based on average negotiated hotel costs for full-service and limited-service hotels and, shown separately, average taxes and fees.
Hotel Costs in 100 International Cities 2008 rates are based on average accepted negotiated upscale daily hotel rates plus, shown separately, miscellaneous lodging expenses of two taxi fares, a newspaper, a bottle of water and a magazine.  December 2007 currency conversion rates were used for conversion to U.S. dollars.

For NU departments:

The University Travel Policy and Procedures states: Direct billing of lodging to University departments is highly discouraged, and guests of the University should be encouraged to pay their own hotel bill and submit their receipts as part of their total trip settlement.

We realize that there may be reasons for exceptions to the University Travel Policy and Procedures. With this in mind, we have established relationships with several hotels in Chicago, Evanston, and vicinity that will accept direct billing requests. Hotels accepting direct billing are noted by an asterisk (*) next to its name and highlighted in the Comments section. Department Head/Authorized Person must submit the Hotel Reservation Agreement Form to the hotel to make the reservation. To view the form, you will be prompted for your NU NetID and password.

If you require direct billing for a non-NU Preferred Hotel, a written request from your Department Head/Authorized Person must be sent to Jeff Levin, Travel Services Manager, for approval either by e-mail (jhlevin@northwestern.edu) or by fax (847/491-3849). Upon approval, the Hotel Reservation Agreement Form should be submitted to the hotel to make the reservation.

Please contact Jeff Levin, Travel Services Manager, if you should have any questions.
