Home>Chicago Campus Parking>Parking>Refunds/CancellationsRefunds/CancellationsParking Fee Refunds Parking permits can be canceled and a full refund issued if the decal and receipt are presented to the parking office within 5 business days of purchase. If a parking permit was purchased via personal check, a check will be issued for the remaining pro-rated value of the parking permit. The check amount will be based on the cost of the permit at the time of purchase and the number of unused months remaining (partial months are not pro-rated). The parking office is not responsible for cancellations not submitted in a timely fashion. For departmental parking administrators only: The administrator cancellation form must be completed to add and/or remove parker(s) from the commuter Faculty/Staff parking list. Returning the form to the Parking Office does not qualify as the separate payroll deduction cancellation notice which must be submitted by the individual parker (see further instructions for Faculty/Staff below). For Faculty/Staff to cancel permit access and payroll deductions: Faculty/Staff must inform their departmental parking administrator* they wish to cancel their parking permit as soon as possible. To stop any further parking deductions, the individual permit-holder must return the cancellation form (pdf) to the Parking Office at 710 N. Lake Shore Drive, Abbott Hall, Room 100 by the 5th business day of the month to prevent a deduction from that month's paycheck. Forms may be completed at the Parking Office during business hours, submitted via campus mail, U.S. mail, or faxed to (312) 503-9243. Parking card/WildCARD access will be deactivated on the date of cancellation. Please note: If the form is not returned in a timely manner, the key card/WildCARD activation will continue until the end of that month and a parking deduction will take place. *If you do not know who your departmental parking administrator is, please contact the Parking Office at (312) 503-1103. For Student Parking cancellations: Students must first inform their school's parking administrator of the intent to cancel their parking permit, then complete the cancellation form (pdf) making sure to indicate the last day the permit should be effective. The form should be submitted to the Parking Office in Abbott Hall, room 100. The parking key card/WildCARD access will be deactivated on the date of cancellation. The refund amount will be issued for the remaining pro-rated value of the parking permit (partial months are not pro-rated). Pro-rated value is based on the original permit cost. |
